Political Awareness and Involvement
The first public act performed by Delta Founders involved their participation in the Women’s Suffrage March in Washington D.C., March 1913. Delta Sigma Theta was incorporated in 1930. Since 1913, we continually strive to promote social activism in our local communities. Programs include:
The Seattle Alumnae Chapter is engaged in a variety of social action activities focused on enacting laws and policies to sustain and expand the rights and privileges of citizenship to all people and to protect the most vulnerable amongst us. These activities include:
Active engagement in the legislative, executive, judicial and regulatory affairs of the nation
Promoting enlightened citizenship by providing fact-based information to elected officials and voters
Research and advocacy of critical issues
Monitoring legislation at national, state, and local levels
Voter registration, education, and mobilization
Educating the community on public policy issues
Encourage Deltas to run for elected office
