Hello my lovely sorors! My name is Melissa Brown. I was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on April 29, 2017 through the Seattle Alumnae Chapter (#2, Op2mistic Prime, Serendipitous XIII).

Since becoming a Delta I've served on several committees in Seattle Alumnae Chapter, including the Wine Tasting Committee (2017-2018) and the Round Up Committee (2018 & 2019). Currently, I serve as Treasurer and Chair of the FInance Committee, a role I've held since 2019; as Chair of the Policies & Procedures committee; and as Co-Chair of the Technology Committee.

I grew up in New York and Atlanta; I attended Spelman College for my undergraduate degree in psychology and graduated in 2008. After I graduated from Spelman, I went to get my PhD in Sociomedical Sciences from Columbia University, which I completed in 2014. I moved to the Seattle area in 2015, when I started a new job at Microsoft on the Xbox Research & Design team as a user experience researcher. I'm still there - now as a principal research manager, managing accessibility and inclusive design research as well as the research for several of Xbox's games and services.
